1 in 1000 applicants report that they do not have access to technology, meaning it would be impossible for them to complete a video interview.
If applicants state that they do not have access to technology, we recommend encouraging them to source a device from a family or friend. Video interviews can be completed on any smartphone, tablet, PC or device with a camera and microphone.
Bear in mind that if you do offer an alternative method, applicants will most likely post this on online forums, meaning you may find a high volume of applicants requesting to be interviewed by an alternate route as they know that you allow others to skip this process, which would make it inconsistent and unfair. Encouraging applicants to source a device is recommended.
If applicants report technical difficulties that our support team are unable to solve (this happens very rarely) or if the applicant definitely does not have access to a device, we recommend offering an alternative method to interview in order to avoid discriminatory claims.
